This particular unit, along with its fellow drones J9-B4 and J9-K6-24, had a reputation for being overly meddlesome. J9-R1 fancied itself an "efficiency expert" and never stopped offering ideas to boost crew morale and productivity, which led to frequent disagreements with the other two J9 units.
