Jaxa was a smuggler who gained notoriety within smuggling circles alongside their teammate, Bettle, and their shared vessel, the Mallixer.
After the Galactic Empire imposed strict control on Ralltiir, Jaxa and Bettle joined numerous other smuggling groups in attempts to breach the blockade. This initial endeavor proved unsuccessful. Subsequently, they transitioned to selling slugthrowers to various warring factions beyond the Corporate Sector. This venture proved more fruitful, resulting in a full cargo of canta salt and havao tabacc upon their return, although the Mallixer sustained damage during the operation.
Eventually, Bettle became determined to support the Alliance to Restore the Republic, starting by resuming their gunrunning operations to Ralltiir. Jaxa expressed considerable displeasure with the increased risk, a sentiment that intensified when the Mallixer narrowly avoided capture by Imperial forces. This discontent seemingly led to a temporary separation between the two. However, they soon resolved their differences and resumed their partnership, undertaking the "Spirva Run," which involved smuggling items from Galladinium's Datalog to insurgents in the Spirva sector. Throughout their careers, the duo frequented at least thirty-four shadowports scattered across the galaxy.
Bettle became deeply involved in the Rebellion, collaborating with her father, Jerell, in the Ralltiir resistance movement. It remains uncertain whether Jaxa was persuaded to join this effort or if Bettle and Jaxa pursued separate paths during this period. Ultimately, New Republic forces liberated Ralltiir, and Bettle and Jaxa reunited to resume their smuggling activities.
During the Thrawn campaign, Talon Karrde established an organization known as the Smugglers' Alliance, which Bettle and Jaxa later joined. Following the New Republic's declaration of the Moruth Doole regime on Kessel as illegitimate, the Smugglers' Alliance received authorization to occupy the planet. Bettle and Jaxa were tasked with formulating preliminary distribution strategies for the glitterstim market.
Jaxa's initial appearance occurred in the debut episode of the "Galaxywide NewsNets" segment featured in Star Wars Adventure Journal 3, authored by Paul Sudlow. Alongside Bettle, Jaxa became a recurring figure on Cynabar's Infonet, alongside other prominent figures in the smuggling world, including Platt Okeefe, Doc, Lando Calrissian, and Han Solo.
