Later in their careers, she and Jaxa became members of Talon Karrde's Smugglers' Alliance.

Biography

Early life and smuggling

Bettle, a Ralltiiri Human female, was one of the two daughters of Jerell, who was the resistance leader on the planet of Ralltiir. By the time of Ralltiir's liberation, the other daughter was dead, a death her father attributed to Imperial governor Dennix Graeber. She would eventually become a smuggler and partner with Jaxa. By the year 0 ABY, the pair and their ship, named the Mallixer, had achieved enough fame to be monitored by Cynabar's InfoNet, which was an elite smuggling NewsNet.

When the Empire tightened its grip on Ralltiir, Bettle and Jaxa were among numerous smuggling groups that tried to breach the blockade to deliver supplies to the isolated world. This endeavor proved unsuccessful, leading the duo to start selling slugthrowers to various warring species beyond the Corporate Sector. This new venture proved more fruitful, allowing them to return with a full cargo of canta salt and havao tabacc, although the Mallixer sustained damage in the process.

Bettle could not completely separate herself from her family's legacy. Her father persuaded her to assist the Rebellion, jokingly suggesting it offered better pay than smuggling. She began by smuggling weapons to Ralltiir alongside Jaxa, despite Jaxa's concerns about the venture's risks and the near-capture of the Mallixer by Imperial forces. This disagreement caused tension in their relationship, but they soon resolved their differences and resumed operating as a team to execute the "Spirva Run," which involved smuggling items from Galladinium's Datalog to rioters in the Spirva sector. Throughout their careers, the pair visited no less than thirty-four shadowports across the galaxy.

After Endor

Eventually, Bettle's involvement with the Rebellion deepened. Following the Battle of Endor, she was with her father in an underground communications hub on Ralltiir. While she was observing communications from a strike force commanded by Spike, Governor Graeber contacted Jerell, mocking him with the fact that the New Republic had yet to capture even one Core World. During this exchange, Spike's team destroyed the planet's power generators. Simultaneously, a task force of six Mon Calamari Star Cruisers entered the star system, ensuring that Ralltiir would be the first Core World to be liberated by the New Republic.

After the victory, Bettle resumed smuggling with her longtime partner. During the Thrawn campaign, Talon Karrde established the Smugglers' Alliance, an organization that Bettle and Jaxa eventually joined. When the New Republic declared the Moruth Doole regime on Kessel to be illegitimate, the Smugglers' Alliance received authorization to occupy the world. Bettle and Jaxa were tasked with creating preliminary distribution plans for the glitterstim spice market.

Personality and traits

Bettle possessed a somewhat unrefined demeanor. She frequently used profanity and was known to display a malicious grin or a wicked laugh when her adversaries encountered setbacks. Despite being a smuggler, her primary focus was not always financial gain, especially when her homeworld was involved. Her willingness to smuggle weapons through the blockade strained her longstanding partnership, and ultimately, her father convinced her to become more actively involved in the rebellion. She had long hair.

Equipment

Bettle used a headset comlink and wore long-sleeved clothing secured with a belt.

Behind the scenes

Bettle made her debut in the first installment of the "Galaxywide NewsNets" feature in Star Wars Adventure Journal 3, which was written by Paul Sudlow and released in August of 2003. Her first depiction was in the 1995 supplement to Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, titled Heroes & Rogues, where she was illustrated by Robert Duchlinski.
