It was part of Phase I of the Star Wars: The High Republic project, a collection of media. The book was available on June 29, 2021. Before the book's launch, a glimpse of the mechanic shop was present in a sample for the book. This sample was in the children's book A Test of Courage, which was released on January 5 of that year.
