John Mollo's contributions to cinema include his work as the costume designer for both Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope and Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back. In addition to his work on Star Wars, Mollo also lent his talents to other films such as Alien, Outland, Gandhi, and Event Horizon. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognized Mollo's work by awarding him the Academy Award for Costume Design for his work on A New Hope back in 1977. At Celebration Europe in 2007, John Mollo made an appearance and signed autographs for his admirers.
The passing of Mollo occurred on October 25, 2017, when he was 86 years of age.
