Former author and executive editor Jonathan W. Rinzler worked for Lucas Licensing's book imprint, known as LucasBooks.
Jonathan W. Rinzler was employed in 2005 to author Star Wars books, with his initial contributions being two books released on the same day: the art book titled The Art of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and the behind-the-scenes reference book titled The Making of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith, both offering insight into the making of the prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith from 2005. That same year, he continued his contributions by writing the Star Wars Insider supplements titled The Art of Revenge of the Sith. On April 24 of 2007, he authored and released The Making of Star Wars: The Definitive Story Behind the Original Film.
During the 2010s, Rinzler continued to produce Star Wars reference books, beginning in 2010 with the publication of The Sounds of Star Wars and The Making of The Empire Strikes Back. He then wrote and released Star Wars: The Blueprints in 2011 and The Making of Return of the Jedi in 2013. Rinzler actively sought writing roles for both Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Underworld, eventually receiving credit as a writer for the sixth season episodes "The Disappeared, Part I" and "The Disappeared, Part II." After battling pancreatic cancer for eleven months, Rinzler sadly passed away on July 28, 2021.
