Jonex Mine Eight Eleven B was a mining operation. This mine was created by the Jonex corporation, specializing in mining, and was located deep within an asteroid in the MZX32905 system.
The mine's caverns were originally inhabited by a mynock swarm. These mynocks thrived on the planetoid's natural iron deposits. Over time, the mynocks evolved into a new race that wielded the dark Force. The immense dark side energy they controlled permeated the caverns, creating a strong dark Force presence after their civilization was destroyed in an unrecorded disaster.
Many years later, a mining company arrived and occupied the caverns, discovering significant quantities of ferrous ore. The caverns were named Jonex Mine Eight Eleven B and were connected to a Sienar Mobile Command Post using a railcar system. Eventually, the miners were driven to insanity due to prolonged exposure to the mine's dark energies. The mine's administrator, who was Force-sensitive, studied the dark side power. After completing his research, he decided to explore other aspects of the Force. Through careful manipulation, the administrator successfully concealed the truth about the mine. With his secret secure, he embarked on an expedition across the galaxy. Later in his life, the administrator returned to the mine as a newly appointed Dark Lord of the Sith. He constructed a mansion at the center of the dark side energy and presumably spent the remainder of his days there.
Centuries later, a new Sith presence emerged when Dark Lady of the Sith Lumiya established the mine as her operational base. In 40 ABY, Lumiya manipulated Jedi Jacen Solo, Ben Skywalker, and Nelani Dinn into entering the mine as part of a scheme to turn Solo to the dark side. Ultimately, Solo chose to embrace his Sith heritage and murdered Nelani Dinn within the caverns. Shortly after the murder, Solo and Skywalker departed, leaving Lumiya alone in the mine, which she used as a lair until her death.
Several months later, Dark Jedi Alema Rar utilized the mine as a refuge; however, her stay was brief as she was killed in a battle fought over the mine.
Jonex Mine Eight Eleven B was destroyed in 40 ABY by fission bombs planted by the One Sith.
