Jono Moroni

A Human male named Jono Moroni worked as a janitor for the Rebel Alliance. He was stationed at Massassi Station which was located on the moon of Yavin 4. He happened to overhear some intelligence concerning a clandestine meeting being planned by the Galactic Empire, information that the Rebels had managed to intercept. Ferus Olin, a former Jedi Padawan and friend of Moroni's who had joined the Rebellion, employed a mind trick to compel Moroni to reveal the information he had overheard. Following this, Olin advised Moroni to return to his living quarters. Despite Olin's attempts to convey his concerns regarding the message to Rebel General Jan Dodonna, the Rebels proceeded with their plan and were ensnared in the trap set by Commander Rezi Soresh using the very message they had intercepted.

Biography

During the year 1 ABY, Jono Moroni, a Human male, was a member of the Rebel Alliance stationed at their hidden fortress situated on the moon of Yavin 4. Known for his quiet demeanor, he possessed red hair and had a tendency to blend into the background, yet he was capable of engaging in lengthy conversations. Moroni's primary duties involved working alongside droids in performing janitorial tasks. During his time on Yavin 4, he contracted a case of Balmorra flu.

One day, while taking a walk in the jungle surrounding the base, he encountered two fellow Rebels, Ferus Olin and Div. Unbeknownst to Moroni, Olin had once been a Jedi Padawan; now Olin was just an old man. As Moroni and Olin were discussing the weather, Olin made use of a mind trick to subtly influence Moroni into divulging information about the recent activities taking place at the Rebel base. Moroni inadvertently revealed that the Rebels had intercepted a highly classified message from the Galactic Empire detailing an upcoming meeting between the Imperial High Command and Emperor Palpatine. This meeting was to be secured by two Imperial Star Destroyers. Moroni further disclosed that General Jan Dodonna was planning a decisive strike to eliminate the Empire's leadership in one fell swoop.

Olin expressed his gratitude to Moroni and employed the mind trick to suggest that Moroni return to his quarters and rest. Still under the influence of the mind trick, Moroni complained about the heat and went back to his quarters to lie down. Div frowned at Olin for using his mind tricks on a friend, and Olin silently apologized to Moroni. Utilizing the information he had obtained, Olin confronted General Dodonna, who informed him that the Rebels were scheduled to attack the meeting in two weeks. Despite Olin's belief that the battle was a trap, Dodonna disregarded Olin's intuition and insisted that the attack proceed as planned. Ultimately, the battle did indeed prove to be a trap orchestrated by the rogue Imperial Commander Rezi Soresh; Soresh and Olin both perished in the conflagration initiated by Soresh.

Personality and traits

In terms of physical appearance, Moroni was a somewhat unkempt redhead. He was generally a quiet individual who preferred to stay out of the spotlight, yet he could engage in lengthy conversations if someone initiated a dialogue with him. Ferus Olin characterized him as consistently friendly and optimistic. Moroni, despite his unassuming presence, observed more than people realized and was willing to share his observations. It was clear that nothing brought him greater joy than serving the Rebellion, even in the capacity of a janitor.
