Julevia was the central star within the Julevian system. Situated within the Dalonbian sector of the Outer Rim Territories, it had five planets and an asteroid belt orbiting it.
Back in 25 ABY, the Yuuzhan Vong, who came from outside the galaxy, launched their invasion of the galaxy via Vector Prime, a hyperspace entry point located in the far reaches of the Dalonbian sector. The Praetorite Vong, who were the initial invaders of this invasion, selected Sernpidal as an early target. They then employed a gravity-manipulating creature known as a dovin basal to bring one of Sernpidal's moons crashing down onto the planet's surface, resulting in its destruction and destabilizing the Julevian system.
However, the Yuuzhan Vong had further plans for the ruined remains of Sernpidal. To build up their worldship fleet, they utilized the shattered remains of the planet to cultivate a new one. Shortly after Sernpidal's destruction, New Republic pilot Gavin Darklighter spearheaded a reconnaissance mission to the Julevian system to observe the Yuuzhan Vong. By flying into the intense light of Julevia, he discovered that the Yuuzhan Vong were using the debris of Sernpidal for this purpose, although the New Republic didn't fully understand the activity's intended purpose. While the Yuuzhan Vong were constructing the vessel, a linear accelerator assembly composed of numerous dovin basals was employed to extract matter from Julevia; this technique was still in use as of 27 ABY. Jedi Kyp Durron, eager to strike back at the invaders for the damage they had inflicted on the galaxy and the New Republic, claimed that it was a new gravitic superweapon, leading to the worldship's destruction in a New Republic attack. The dovin basals connecting the worldship to Julevia were dislodged when the vessel met its end.
The Julevian system makes its debut in the opening novel of the New Jedi Order series, The New Jedi Order: Vector Prime, penned by R. A. Salvatore, although its sun remains unnamed. Julevia makes its initial appearance, or rather, is briefly mentioned, in the New Jedi Order novel The New Jedi Order: Dark Tide II: Ruin by Michael A. Stackpole, where it appears in a single sequence without being named. The sun takes on a more prominent role in a subsequent novel within the same series, The New Jedi Order: Edge of Victory II: Rebirth, where it is cleverly used as part of Kyp Durron's rationale for wanting to destroy the Yuuzhan Vong worldship being grown there. Still without a name, Julevia was finally given its designation in The Essential Atlas, which was published in 2009.
