Jump platform

Luke Skywalker on top of a jump platform, equipped with a wing pack. Jump platforms represented specialized pieces of technology found on the planet of Solay, engineered to launch a person skyward. These platforms featured a sizable, round surface with a central mounting point where a user would position themselves. The area around this point included several levers used to activate the platform, in addition to a supply of wing packs, which were essentially backpacks functioning as glider once airborne. Upon pulling a lever, the central mounting section would rapidly ascend, launching the individual standing on the platform to a great height. Once the person reached the peak of their ascent, they could activate a lever on the wing pack, deploying a pair of large wings enabling them to glide over the terrain.

Circa 4 ABY, Luke Skywalker made use of a jump platform while in pursuit of Blackart, the former King of Solay. Skywalker's ally, Scamp, triggered the platform, sending Skywalker soaring into the sky, allowing him to stop Blackart from fleeing aboard a Solay rocket ship.
