Solay, located in the Outer Rim Territories' Dominus sector, was the primary planet within the Solay system. It served as the home for numerous species. For fifty years, a cruel dictator controlled Solay, until Luke Skywalker, the celebrated Rebel Alliance figure, aided the local resistance movement. However, their triumph was fleeting, as the Galactic Empire swiftly seized Solay, compelling Skywalker to flee.
This world, Solay, was the central planet in its own eponymous star system. Unusually, this system contained ten suns orbiting a shared center of gravity.
Around the year 46 BBY, Solay fell under the oppressive rule of a local tyrant known as King Blackart. After the Galactic Empire came to power in 19 BBY following the rise, Blackart continued to govern Solay as a vassal of Emperor Palpatine. In 4 ABY, following fifty years of conflict, the local resistance successfully overthrew King Blackart's forces.
The resistance, spearheaded by Raggold and Mary, received assistance from Luke Skywalker, a Jedi trainee and prominent figure in the Rebel Alliance which fought against Palpatine's Empire. As the resisters were preparing for the final battle, an unexpected event changed everything. Unknown to everyone else, Raggold had betrayed the planet to the Empire, promising them direct control of the planet in exchange for their help in defeating Blackart. Overcome with remorse for his betrayal and its inevitable consequences after winning the war, Raggold committed suicide. As planned, the Empire quickly reconquered the planet, killing Mary in the process. Unable to provide any assistance, Skywalker was forced to escape with the help of Braxas, a local infochant.
Solay served as the setting for Star Wars 89, penned by Ann Nocenti, illustrated by Bret Blevins, and released in 1984.
