On his initial day at the Jedi academy, Anakin forges a bond with a new acquaintance named Tahiri, who also possesses a strong connection to the Force. They soon discover that by working together, they can achieve remarkable feats that even their instructors find astonishing!

However, their instructors remain unaware of the other activities Anakin and Tahiri engage in together. Each night, they share the same vivid dream of navigating a raft down the river adjacent to the Academy. Within the dream, they are drawn by the Force, but they cannot discern whether it originates from the light or dark side!

The only definitive way to ascertain the truth is to embark on a real-life journey down the river, completely on their own!

Plot summary

Anakin Solo makes his way to Yavin 4 just before classes are scheduled to begin at the Jedi Praxeum. Luke Skywalker extends a warm welcome to him, and he is introduced to another student by the name of Tahiri.

That very night, Tahiri experiences a disturbing nightmare wherein she is traveling on a raft down a river on Yavin 4, only to fall overboard and begin to drown. This dream has been recurring, and she now recognizes the location as the jungle moon where she currently resides. A novel element in this iteration of the dream is the presence of Anakin.

The following morning, Tahiri recounts her dream to Anakin, emphasizing his role in it. Tahiri proposes that they secretly embark on a rafting trip down the nearest river, but Anakin initially declines the offer. They then attend their classes, which focus on the art of levitating objects. That night, Tahiri enjoys a peaceful sleep, while Anakin is now haunted by the same nightmare that had plagued Tahiri (albeit from his perspective, witnessing Tahiri struggling to stay afloat).

By morning, Anakin's perspective has shifted, and he consents to join Tahiri on a rafting expedition down the river. However, they must devise a plan to discreetly slip away from their classes. Subsequently, they attend their classes, but their minds are preoccupied with planning their escape for the following day.

Anakin begins to perceive a voice guiding him towards the location of a raft and providing instructions on how to evade detection while leaving the temple. He attributes the voice to an ancient Jedi Master. He drifts off to sleep and is once again tormented by the nightmare, but this time Artoo makes an appearance. The subsequent day, he and Tahiri capture Artoo's attention and then stealthily depart from the Praxeum with the droid, adhering to the instructions conveyed by the voice Anakin hears.

However, as soon as they are all aboard the raft, a sudden storm erupts, and Tahiri is thrown from the vessel. Unable to swim and engulfed by the turbulent waves, Tahiri begins to drown. Fortunately, Anakin, with Artoo's assistance, manages to rescue her. They scramble to the shoreline and levitate Artoo to their location.

Seeking refuge from the storm, they stumble upon the Woolamander Temple. Tahiri ventures inside to explore and discovers a stairwell leading downwards. Anakin cautions her against descending, but she disregards his warning. Compelled to stay by her side, Anakin follows her, leaving Artoo behind.

Eventually, they come across a chamber adorned with Massassi inscriptions and housing a massive golden globe. Anakin and Tahiri experience the pain and suffering of trapped individuals emanating from within the globe. They then notice a diminutive creature at the base of the globe. They awaken it, and it repeatedly utters the name 'Ikrit'.

They are unable to approach the globe, and when Anakin checks the time and realizes that he and Tahiri have been absent for an extended period, they abandon the globe and ascend the stairs with Ikrit, returning to the Praxeum as the storm subsides.

Luke awaits their return, and they find themselves in trouble, resulting in their confinement to the dormitories. That evening, Ikrit visits Anakin's room and reveals that he is a Jedi Knight who arrived on Yavin 4 four centuries ago. He was powerless to address the issue of the golden globe, so he entered a state of slumber until someone capable of providing assistance would arrive.

He informs Anakin that the problem with the golden globe can only be resolved by a child, so he and Tahiri must refrain from informing Tionne or Luke about it. Anakin pledges to assist and to maintain secrecy.
