Lieutenant Junior Grade, also known as Junior Lieutenant (often shortened to Lieutenant JG), represented a rank held by junior officers within certain armed forces. During the Age of the Empire, both Jams and Tobix Chasser held positions as junior lieutenants serving within the ranks of the Imperial Navy. The rank insignia plaque for a junior lieutenant displayed either a pair of red squares positioned above two blue squares, potentially mirroring the insignia of a standard lieutenant, or a configuration featuring a row of two blue squares.
Before his enlistment into the recently established Inferno Squad, occurring shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Gideon Hask was a Lieutenant JG.
