Captain Kallic, an officer within the Imperial Navy, briefly held the position of temporary commander aboard the Super Star Destroyer Executor. This vessel served as the personal flagship for the Dark Lord Darth Vader. Kallic's brief command occurred following the Battle of Hoth during the Galactic Civil War. Stepping in for Admiral Firmus Piett, Kallic was in charge of the Executor's journey back to Coruscant. This was so Vader could report to Emperor Palpatine regarding his encounter with Luke Skywalker at Bespin's Cloud City.

During the Galactic Civil War, Kallic functioned as an officer in the Imperial Navy. He served on the Super Star Destroyer Executor, which was the personal flagship of the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. Vader executed his flagship's previous commander, Admiral Kendal Ozzel, for incompetence during the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY. Following this, the Dark Lord promoted Captain Firmus Piett to the rank of admiral. Subsequently, the captaincy of the Executor was briefly held by Lieutenant Venka, before Kallic eventually took over as captain.
Not long after the Hoth campaign, Kallic received temporary command of the Executor at Vader's instruction. This occurred while the Dark Lord went back to Coruscant, the Imperial capital planet. Emperor Palpatine had summoned Vader to report on the failed conversion attempt of the Jedi Luke Skywalker to the dark side of the Force that transpired on Bespin's Cloud City. While Kallic escorted Vader to Coruscant, Admiral Piett remained with Vader's Star Destroyer fleet, the Imperial Death Squadron, to continue the Empire's search for the Rebel Alliance. Once Vader finished his business on Coruscant, Kallic was expected to hand command of the Executor back to Piett.
Author Peter Schweighofer created Captain Kallic for the short story Temporary Reassignment, which was published in the June 1996 Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook. This narrative explains why Admiral Piett, who commands the Executor both before and after the events of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, is not the Executor's commander in the Shadows of the Empire novel.
After the Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook was released, various sources presented differing accounts of Kallic's position in the Executor's line of captains. The second edition of Galaxy Guide 3: The Empire Strikes Back, published in July 1996, stated that Lieutenant Venka became the Executor's captain after Firmus Piett was promoted to admiral. However, both the 2002 The New Essential Guide to Characters and the 2008 The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia indicated that Kallic was Piett's direct successor as captain, without mentioning Venka. Ultimately, The Official Star Wars Fact File 89, which was released in 2003, and the now-defunct StarWars.com Databank clarified that Kallic took over the Executor's captaincy after Venka.
