Kanzi existed as a planet located within the galaxy. Sometime after the Clone Wars concluded, specifically a few months later, Galen Erso, a scientist, met with Lieutenant Commander Orson Krennic at the Orona Hotel on Kanzi along with his wife Lyra and their daughter Jyn. It was there that Krennic, employing kyber crystals, convinced Galen to become involved with Project Celestial Power, a program run by the Galactic Empire.
