This patrol and attack craft, a Firespray-31-class, was the ship piloted by Kath Scarlet, who was the Captain leading the Binayre Pirates during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Scarlet employed this vessel to lie in wait and seize the freight of defenseless starships as they transited through Corellian space. On one occasion, an Imperial squad was sent aboard a Lambda-class shuttle with the objective of locating and eliminating a Rebel installation situated on Talus. Scarlet, under the mistaken impression that it was a cargo transport, utilized her Firespray to cripple and then attempt to board the Imperial vessel as it came out of hyperspace, but she was driven back and compelled to flee.
Leading up to and during the Galactic Civil War, Kath Scarlet would conceal her Firespray-31 among the cover of asteroids. From this hidden position, she would launch surprise attacks on defenceless merchant ships. She would then seize any unsuspecting starships that happened to be traveling through the Corellian sector of space. These actions were carried out under the banner of the Binayre Pirates—a group consisting of pirates and smugglers who operated from the twin worlds of Talus and Tralus.
At one point during the Galactic Civil War, Scarlet's Firespray happened to be in close proximity when an Imperial squad's Lambda-class T-4a shuttle materialized from hyperspace within the Corellian system. The shuttle's mission was to locate and destroy a clandestine Rebel base situated on Talus. Mistaking the arriving shuttle for a mere cargo transport, Scarlet initiated an attack with her Firespray. She employed her ship's ion cannon to target the shuttle's hyperdrive, thereby disabling it and preventing the ship from making an escape. After the shuttle was rendered immobile, Scarlet utilized the Firespray's grapplers to latch the shuttle onto her own ship. This was done with the intention of boarding it with her crew of pirates. However, the Imperial personnel mounted a successful defense, repelling the boarding attempt and compelling Scarlet to flee in her Firespray before the Imperials could pursue her.
