Keldabe-class cruiser

The Keldabe-class cruiser, alternatively referred to as the Keldabe-class battleship, represented one of several distinct warship types that were in service with Tyber Zann's organization, among others, during the period of the Galactic Civil War. It is known that the Mandalorians operated at least one ship of this classification during the Galactic Civil War.

Similar to the Crusader-class corvette, the Keldabe-class battleship was a product of Mandal Hypernautics' design efforts. The vessel's designation was derived from Mandalore's primary city, Keldabe. Echoing other Mandalorian spacecraft designs, the battleship displayed sharp angles, a stylistic callback to the ancient Mandalorian Kandosii-type dreadnaught. A prominent design feature was the tower structure positioned atop the main superstructure, bearing a resemblance to the Galactic Empire's iconic Star Destroyers.

Weapons and Defense

Keldabe battleships possessed the capability to effectively challenge Galactic Empire's Imperial-class Star Destroyers, armed with an array of turbolasers, ion cannons, and a complement of mass driver weaponry. These mass drivers were arranged in batteries located between the dual engine assemblies and at the ship's forward section.

A notable and unique aspect of the vessel's architecture was its capacity to siphon energy from opposing ships and their protective shields. This was achieved using technology procured from the Alliance to Restore the Republic through illicit channels.

In general, the battleship's combat effectiveness exceeded that of the Consortium's Aggressor-class Star Destroyer by approximately one-third. However, this enhanced capability was accompanied by a significantly higher production cost for each unit.

Background

The Zann Consortium came into possession of the Keldabe-class battleship after its piratical forces acquired the design schematics from Mandal Hypernautics through extortion. Although Tyber Zann was displeased with the pirate's violation of his directives to avoid the shipyards, he nonetheless integrated the Keldabe-class into his naval forces, but only after ordering the execution of the captain who had disobeyed him. Subsequently, Keldabe-class battleships saw action in numerous Consortium operations, including the Battle for the Eclipse.
