Kemplex Nine, a jump-station belonging to the Old Republic, met its end in 3996 BBY due to the formation of the Cron Drift. Before its destruction, it stood as one of the few populated settlements within the Auril sector. During the Sith War, Ulic Qel-Droma suggested plans to assault Kemplex Nine, but this was simply a diversion to lure the Republic military away from Coruscant, his real objective.
In that same year, Qel-Droma ultimately chose to attack Kemplex Nine, but the true purpose was to ensnare the combined Jedi/Republic force in a carefully laid trap. Aleema Keto and Crado, aboard the ancient Sith Lord Naga Sadow's flagship, obliterated the station and enticed the pursuing Republic fleet, commanded by the Jedi Dace Diath, Shoaneb Culu and Qrrrl Toq, into the ten stars comprising the Cron Cluster. Once the fleet was suitably positioned, Aleema activated the Sith weapon, inadvertently triggering the simultaneous ignition of all ten stars, resulting in the total annihilation of Kemplex Nine and the complete surrounding region of space.
