The Key of Exile made its debut in Star Wars Galaxies, the 2003 video game that was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game. This game was created by Sony Online Entertainment and released to the public by LucasArts. It existed until its shutdown on December 15, 2011. The Key of Exile was integrated into the game alongside the "Axkva Min" Heroic Encounter, which was introduced when the "Chapter 7" update was launched on November 1, 2007.
Within the game's representation, the Key of Exile was visualized as a Sith holocron with purple and silver coloring.
