Kez Velaz was a Jedi Master of the male persuasion. During the Republic Era, he was selected to supervise the outreach program situated in the outreach temple on Mathas. This planet was grappling with the devastating effects of the Niffin plague. Some time after this assignment, Velaz vanished, and communication ceased for several months. Subsequently, a person identifying himself as Drooz, a Jedi prophet and purported healer, established himself within the temple and initiated a scheme to take advantage of the Mathas people for monetary gain.
