Mathas was a world, a planet, situated within the galaxy, and its population was afflicted by the Niffin plague sometime prior to the Clone Wars. As a reaction to this epidemic, the Jedi Order established an outreach temple to provide emotional and spiritual support to those in need. Kez Velaz, a Jedi Master, was selected to supervise this initiative; however, he vanished, and a person calling himself Drooz, who purported to be a Jedi prophet and healer, began living in the temple. Subsequently, Cyslin Myr, a Jedi Master, and Mace Windu, her Padawan, traveled to Mathas to evaluate the circumstances there.
