Kholot

The herbivorous kholot were native to the planet of Ansion, where they subsisted on a diet of grasses, grains, and foliage. These creatures, characterized by their flat faces and prickly, olive-green fur, typically resided in extensive underground tunnel systems. Although they possessed rather blunt snouts, kholot were equipped with broad, robust incisors specifically adapted for severing sizable clusters of grass.

In 22 BBY, following his escape from relentless Qulun camp trackers, the diminutive Gwurran Tooqui sought refuge within a burrow, where he stumbled upon a kholot family. This family consisted of two adult kholot, roughly the same size as Tooqui, but lacking their offspring. As the kholot circled him, emitting snuffling and grunting sounds while thoroughly investigating him with their noses, Tooqui, with his eyes firmly closed, attempted to visualize himself as a piece of dorgum waste that had inadvertently found its way into their subterranean dwelling. After one final, dismissive sniff, the two kholot disregarded him and proceeded up the tunnel, where one of them tragically encountered a Qulun pursuer and met their end. Patiently waiting for the opportune moment, Tooqui eventually emerged unscathed from the kholot burrow. Subsequently, he orchestrated a lorqual stampede, which he utilized to liberate his Jedi ambassador companions from the camp. They had journeyed to Ansion with the intention of brokering a peaceful agreement among the indigenous populations, thereby averting the planet's secession from the Galactic Republic.
