During 4 ABY, it served as the central command hub for Imperial Moff Boren Tascl and Governor [Norquest]. The city's defenses included stormtroopers, walkers, and the elite Crimson Squadron.

Rogue Squadron, while collaborating with the local resistance to dislodge the Empire, established a clandestine outpost to the west of Kiidan. Roughly a month following the Battle of Endor, Tascl was overthrown, and Cilpar subsequently aligned itself with the New Republic.
