Koorivar

The Koorivar were a sentient race of near-humans, easily identified by their reptilian-like skin and a prominent horn that spiraled upwards from the center of their heads.

Biology and appearance

These tall sentient near-humans, the Koorivar, possessed craniums adorned with numerous small, twisting horns encircling a larger, spiraling horn in the center. Furthermore, the Koorivar exhibited distinctive banded ridges across their brows and nose, adding to their unique appearance.

Society and culture

The Koorivar held their central horns in high regard, as they could be indicators of wealth and social standing. Those who adorned their horns with intricate designs were held in great esteem, at least among the Koorivar who also practiced this custom. As a colonial species, the Koorivar had spread and adapted, establishing dominance on numerous planets.

History

Originating from a lost world, the Koorivar lacked a homeworld until sometime in galactic history, when they established a settlement on a planet which they named Kooriva. During the Clone Wars, while Kooriva's Senator, Passel Argente, guided his world to join the Confederacy of Independent Systems, many Koorivar maintained allegiance to the Galactic Republic and relocated to Antar 4, participating in local resistance efforts against the Confederacy. The remaining Koorivar population stayed on Kooriva and accepted Separatist control over their world.

Behind the scenes

Initially, early sources related to Attack of the Clones referred to the Koorivar as "Koorivians." However, the novel Tarkin officially established "Koorivar" as the correct designation.
