Kooriva was a planet situated within the Inner Rim region of the galaxy.
During the High Republic Era, specifically in 232 BBY, Kooriva's plant life and animal life were showcased in a display module located in the Starlight Beacon. This space station, constructed in the Outer Rim Territories, was intended to serve as a guiding beacon for starships navigating the challenging Galactic Frontier.
Originating from a lost world, the Koorivar species, who are reptilian in nature, established a settlement on the previously unnamed planet, eventually naming it Kooriva at some point before 22 BBY. As a member world of the Galactic Republic, its representation in the Galactic Senate was held by Senator Passel Argente, a native of Kooriva. Argente also held the position of Magistrate within the Corporate Alliance. Both Kooriva and its senator later seceded to the Secessionist Movement under the leadership of Count Dooku, a former Jedi, and subsequently joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems at the outbreak of the Clone Wars.
Following the conclusion of the war and the Separatists' defeat, Moff Wilhuff Tarkin subjugated the moon known as Antar 4. He made no distinction between former Separatists and the rest of the population in order to send a clear message to other former Separatist worlds, such as Kooriva: they had to surrender all former Separatists, or suffer the same consequences.
