KT-400 military droid carrier

The KT-400 military droid carrier, classified as a light freighter, was a ubiquitous presence across the galaxy both before and after the events of the Jedi Civil War.

Characteristics

A KT-400 military droid carrier unloads Sentinel droids on Onderon.

This freighter possessed a relatively small size and exhibited a distinctive three-pronged configuration. The bridge occupied one of these prongs, while the lower two projections possibly facilitated cargo management. Its armament consisted of only two pairs of laser cannons, situated at the extremities of the lower extensions. Its primary function was to escort Sentinel droids during combat operations or occupations.

History

Kellenech Technologies, a manufacturer specializing in droids, initially conceived this vessel to transport its military and construction droids. However, following the company's bankruptcy, the Galactic Republic acquired the design and initiated ship production through Republic Fleet Systems. After the conclusion of the Great Sith War, funding ceased, and a variety of manufacturers were contracted to complete the construction of these vessels for both military and commercial applications.

The Galactic Republic utilized this freighter, as did their Sith adversaries, in addition to its employment in civilian sectors. A notable instance of its use occurred during the battle of Dxun within the Mandalorian Wars, where numerous freighters deployed Sentinel battle droids onto the moon's surface to engage the invading Mandalorian forces. Furthermore, they served in the transportation of kolto from Manaan and the delivery of provisions to the Sith military outpost on Taris. Ironically, years later, the Zhug brothers would crash their own KT-400 on Dxun while attempting to collect a bounty on the Jedi Exile.

Due to its substantial cargo capacity and armament, the freighter gained considerable popularity among mercenaries and bounty hunters.
