Kuhru

Kuhru, a Human male of major rank, served the Galactic Empire in its Imperial Army as a notable commander of AT-AT walker units. In the year 3 ABY, while stationed on an insignificant, backwater world, Kuhru's forces encountered Rebel Commander Luke Skywalker, who was scouting the planet as a potential site for a Rebel base. Darth Vader, the Dark Lord, instructed Kuhru to capture the intruder alive; however, the young Rebel managed to escape, leaving the Major to face Vader's displeasure. Aboard the Super Star Destroyer named Executor, Kuhru delivered a report on the failed encounter to Vader, who, displeased with the outcome, used a mind trick to convince the Major to exit an airlock without wearing a protective space suit. Kuhru's life came to an end as he was expelled into the cold vacuum of space.

Biography

Major Kuhru, a Human male, was a member of the Galactic Empire. As a celebrated commander of AT-AT units within the Imperial Army, Kuhru found himself stationed on an unimportant backwater planet that housed both an Imperial base and a communications beacon. In 3 ABY, Luke Skywalker, a Commander in the Rebel Alliance, was scouting the planet on which Kuhru was stationed, searching for a suitable location for a Rebel base. Skywalker discovered—and was discovered by—the Imperial presence. As an AT-ST walker moved to engage him, the scout walker's crew alerted the main base, which promptly dispatched a force of AT-ATs, under Kuhru's command, to confront the intruder. Darth Vader, the Dark Lord, unaware that the Rebel was Skywalker, instructed Kuhru to capture the insurgent alive for interrogation purposes.

Kuhru orders the AT-ST to destroy Skywalker's starfighter.

The Major gave the order for the AT-ST to destroy Skywalker's X-wing starfighter, intending to trap the Rebel on the planet. However, Kuhru quickly reassigned the scout walker to defend the communications beacon when Skywalker attempted to destroy it using proton grenades. This attack turned out to be a diversion, as Skywalker used his lightsaber to immobilize the AT-ST before escaping the planet in his starfighter. Kuhru's AT-ATs were unable to shoot down the escaping craft, leaving the Major to report the failure to Vader.

Kuhru journeyed to the Super Star Destroyer Executor, Vader's flagship, to deliver his report in person. He boarded the warship as it approached the Patriim system. The Major met with the Dark Lord on the bridge of the Super Star Destroyer, where he attempted to justify his decision to protect the communications beacon to Vader. However, the Dark Lord disagreed with Kuhru's assessment of the situation. Instead of immediately executing the officer for failing to capture the Rebel, Vader used the Force to convince Kuhru to walk out of one of the Executor's airlocks without a space suit. The Major complied and was ejected into the vacuum of space, resulting in his death.

Personality and traits

Major Kuhru, a distinguished commander in the Imperial Army, was responsible for leading AT-AT forces in combat on the planet where he was stationed. Upon encountering Luke Skywalker, the Major attempted to capture the Rebel officer as per Darth Vader's instructions. Kuhru's efforts were unsuccessful because he prioritized the protection of the planet's communications beacon, a judgment that allowed Skywalker to escape. A distressed Kuhru attempted to defend his decision to Vader aboard the Executor, but the Sith Lord disagreed with the situation and compelled the Major to "get some fresh air" by exiting an airlock.

Behind the scenes

Major Kuhru made an appearance in Resurrection of Evil, which was the fifty-first issue of the Marvel Star Wars series of comics. The issue was written by David Michelinie and illustrated by Walter Simonson.
