Kulless were a sentient species originating from the planet known as Gerres Gule. These beings were characterized by their bipedal stance, a rounded body, and a substantial tail. During the year 24 BBY, a Kulless named Shrivel Braittrand participated in the professional Podracing competitions, piloting a custom-built Podracer. Braittrand found particular success on the SoroSuub Facility course.
Kulless were a bipedal species possessing sentience. Their bodies were defined by a robust, barrel-shaped torso, complemented by long arms ending in hands with four fingers. Their legs were comparatively shorter, featuring three toes in the front and one at the back. A notable feature of the Kulless was their thick tail, which extended to the ground. As seen in the example of Shrivel Braittrand, they displayed brown skin pigmentation and a bumpy texture.
The Kulless face presented a rather flat profile, marked by deeply set eyes that were black in color, and a prominent brow ridge. They had a short nose, and a set of white teeth visible behind light-colored lips.
The Kulless evolved on the planet Gerres Gule, which is located in the Mid Rim sector of the galaxy, near the Dragonflower Nebula. Kulless individuals were documented as being present off-world as early as 24 BBY. Around this time, Shrivel Braittrand, a Kulless, journeyed across the galaxy serving as the primary mechanic for the Podracer driven by Boles Roor. Roor, a Sneevel, eventually retired from racing to resume his previous occupation as a glimmik singer, thus providing Braittrand with an opportunity to enter the racing circuit.
Braittrand dismantled his former employer's Podracer and used the parts to create a completely new vehicle, which he named the Kulless Squall. This Podracer was known for its exceptional maneuverability and became a significant contender in professional races. Braittrand utilized the extensive experience he gained working with Roor, and he achieved particular success at the SoroSuub Facility track on Sullust. He competed against renowned racers such as Sebulba the Dug, Teemto Pagalies, and Ody Mandrell.
The Kulless made their initial appearance in Star Wars: Racer Revenge, a video game that was a collaborative project between LucasArts and Rainbow Studios. It was launched in 2002 for the PlayStation 2 console. The game did not explicitly name the species, but it featured Shrivel Braittrand as a representative. His species was later identified as Kulless in the Star Wars: Racer Revenge: Prima's Official Strategy Guide, which was published by Prima Games in February of 2002. The Kulless were also referenced in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia within the entries dedicated to Shrivel Braittrand and Gerres Gule.
