A pilot aiming to "run the belt" would navigate a specially adapted TIE Advanced x1 starfighter directly into the approaching asteroid field, striving to endure for the maximum duration achievable. The designated route was primarily supervised by Belt-Runner I, a space station constructed both to monitor the activity and to safeguard participating pilots through the implementation of repulsor shielding. A publicly displayed ranking showcased the pilots who had achieved the longest survival times, posted within Lando's establishment. In the period immediately preceding the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of Republic territory, the three Solo offspring engaged in "running the belt," and subsequently utilized Lando's Folly as a means of evading an advancing swarm of Yuuzhan Vong Coralskippers.
