Larry, a three-eyed alien male, was a resident of the Forest Moon of Endor, where he dwelled. During his youth, Larry departed from his family and adopted the life of a recluse, choosing to live in isolation within a tree. When individuals approached the fort constructed on top of his tree, Larry would deter them by emitting loud cries into the tree's root system, which amplified and projected his voice throughout the entire structure. The Kagles, who had visited the fort and interpreted Larry's voice as the sound of malevolent forest entities, gave him the moniker "the Shrieks."
In the year 3 ABY, the Ewoks named Wicket Wystri Warrick and Teebo took up residence in the tree fort, ultimately encountering Larry. The solitary figure shared his history with the Ewoks, and the pair, having also left their homes, came to the conclusion that they ought to return. That evening, Larry and the Ewoks made their way to Bright Tree Village and participated in the Harvest Festival. Subsequently, while Warrick and Teebo were engaged in trading goods on behalf of the trader Mooth, Larry successfully persuaded the Ewoks to provide him with a complimentary fire feather blanket.

Larry, an alien being, made his home on the Forest Moon of Endor. During his early years, he absconded from his family's residence, declaring that it would require "a million munyips to force him back." He then established his abode within a tree situated near the Ewok community of Bright Tree Village. Following a few years of independent living, Larry experienced homesickness and returned to his childhood dwelling, only to discover that its inhabitants had relocated. By 3 ABY, a fort had been constructed within the branches of Larry's tree. Larry displayed a lack of hospitality towards visitors, resorting to scaring away intruders by emitting shrieks into the tree's roots; the roots amplified the sound throughout the fort, creating the impression of numerous disembodied voices. One particular group of visitors, the Kagles, mistook Larry's cries for the sounds of wicked forest spirits and dubbed the mysterious howling phenomenon "the Shrieks."
In the year 3 ABY, Larry's tree received two unwelcome guests: the young Ewoks Wicket Wystri Warrick and Teebo. The pair had fled Bright Tree Village and decided to occupy the dilapidated tree fort. Upon the Ewoks' ascent into the fort, Larry observed them surreptitiously, chuckling to himself and predicting that their stay would be brief. Later that day, as Warrick and Teebo undertook repairs to the fort, Larry peered at them from beneath the floorboards.
Later, during a rainy period, Warrick found himself alone within the fort. Larry observed him from within the wall and emitted a piercing shriek, startling the Ewok. Teebo subsequently reentered the fort accompanied by the Kagles, initiating a game of Trok. The Kagles expressed surprise that the Shrieks were permitting the Ewoks to remain. When Warrick revealed his unfamiliarity with the Shrieks, the Kagles realized that they were present in the fort without authorization and fled in terror. Warrick and Teebo contemplated returning to their village but instead opted to set traps with the intention of defeating the Shrieks.

Once the Ewoks had set their traps and darkened the room, Larry stealthily moved through the space, causing the Ewoks to inadvertently trigger their own traps. Larry then fled through the fort's entrance, emitting shrieks, with the Ewoks in pursuit. Subsequently, Larry retreated back into the tree, and the Ewoks followed his voice inside. As the Ewoks approached, he continued to shriek and laugh, cautioning them to turn back or face destruction. Teebo expressed a desire to leave, but Warrick seized Teebo's magic pouch and blew dust into the tree roots, causing Larry to sneeze. He then emerged from the tree roots in search of fresh air, at which point the Ewoks tackled him.
With Larry restrained, Warrick demanded that the Shrieks surrender. Larry confessed that he was the sole entity responsible for the Shrieks. Warrick expressed disbelief, prompting Larry to draw back a curtain and reveal the tree's "voice roots." Teebo inquired as to why Larry had felt compelled to scare them, to which he simply replied that they had been in his tree. He then shared his story of running away from home with the Ewoks. Upon hearing Larry's account, the Ewoks resolved to return to Bright Tree Village. That evening, Larry attended the village's Harvest Festival, engaging in cheerful conversation and indulging in copious amounts of various food items.

Later that year, Larry was gathering sticks outside his tree when he was approached by Warrick and Teebo, who were engaged in trading items on behalf of Mooth, a local trader. Upon Larry's remark that it was chilly outside, Warrick offered to trade the recluse a fire feather blanket. Larry acknowledged the blanket's appeal but stated that he possessed nothing of value to trade in exchange.
He shivered and wiped away tears as he reiterated his impoverished, lonely, and cold state. Larry's display of desperation moved Teebo to tears, and the recluse continued his performance until Warrick gifted him the blanket without requiring any compensation. He then expressed his gratitude to Warrick and hurried inside the tree.
Larry was characterized as an obese, violet-furred alien male with an orange nose and bags beneath his three yellow-green eyes. Two of Larry's eyes were positioned on his face, while the third was situated on a stalk atop his head. He possessed light skin, which was visible on his arms and feet. Larry sported a gray moustache and black eyebrows. His approximate height was 0.8 meters.
During his childhood, Larry abandoned his home. Upon returning to his childhood residence and discovering that its inhabitants had moved away, he experienced a sense of abandonment. Throughout Larry's period as a solitary, reclusive hermit, he engaged in self-conversation and deterred visitors through yelling and laughter. At the Harvest Festival, Larry consumed substantial quantities of food and drink, conversing with his newfound Ewok acquaintances. On a subsequent occasion, Larry exploited his reputation as a lone hermit to acquire a fire feather blanket from Warrick.
While assuming his "Shrieks" persona, Larry utilized the roots of his tree to deter trespassers. By yelling into the roots, his voice was transmitted throughout the entire tree, creating the illusion of an army of spirits. Within the tree, Larry maintained a torch, curtains concealing a tunnel leading to the roots, and a pot containing food. Upon receiving a fire feather blanket from Warrick, Larry brought the gift inside his tree.

Larry made his debut appearance in "Home is Where the Shrieks Are," the third episode of the second season of the animated television series Ewoks. The episode was penned by Bob Carrau, and it premiered on September 20, 1986. The final model sheet for Larry, labeled "E-35" and dated May 6, 1986, received approval from Ewoks production designer Kirk Henderson.
