Publisher's summary
Amidst this brutal civil conflict, every attempt to put an end to Jacen Solo's oppressive reign over the Galactic Alliance has been unsuccessful. Now, as Jacen's dark powers escalate, even the Solos and Skywalkers are uncertain if anything can halt the Sith Lord before his plan to rescue the galaxy results in its total annihilation.
The looming influence of Jacen Solo has cast a shadow over many, particularly those closest to him. Jaina Solo is resolved to apprehend her brother, but to locate him, she must first acquire unfamiliar skills from a man she considers merciless, repulsive, and perilous. Meanwhile, Ben Skywalker, still troubled by the suspicion that Jacen murdered his mother, Mara, decides he must uncover the truth, regardless of the potential cost to his own life. And as Luke Skywalker considers previously unthinkable strategies to unseat his nephew, the moment of truth approaches for all involved. The galaxy transforms into a battleground where everyone must confront their true nature and deepest secrets, and either live–or die–confronting the consequences.
