Star Wars: Legacy of the Force is a series of adult-oriented fiction novels within the Star Wars Legends continuity, penned by Aaron Allston, Karen Traviss, and Troy Denning. Del Rey published the nine books comprising the series between 2006 and 2008.
The narrative, unfolding from 40 ABY to 41 ABY, details the events of the Second Galactic Civil War and the descent of Jacen Solo into the dark side of the Force under the tutelage of Lumiya, a returning antagonist. Furthermore, Star Wars: Legacy of the Force marked the return of characters such as Boba Fett, Lando Calrissian, Thrackan Sal-Solo, and Natasi Daala.
The initial concept for a nine-book series emerged in 2004, with the original intention of situating it within the Old Republic era. The specific timeframe within the Old Republic remains unknown, but on May 21, 2004, Sue Rostoni made the following statement on the forums hosted by StarWars.com:
About a month later, Rostoni posted the following information in the thread:
Star Wars: Legacy of the Force brought back numerous characters, originating from both the Expanded Universe (EU) and the films, who had been absent from EU literature for a considerable period. Notably, the Dark Lady of the Sith, Lumiya, debuted in novel form in Betrayal, while Boba Fett, who last appeared briefly in The Unifying Force, made a significant return to the galactic stage in Bloodlines. The storylines of other characters, including Thrackan Sal-Solo, Gilad Pellaeon, Ailyn Vel, and Natasi Daala, were resolved within the series.
