Lew'elans comprised a cultural group of humans who were native to the aquatic planet known as Lew'el. Their origins can be traced back to the earliest inhabitants who arrived on the world ages ago, giving it the name Lew'el, which translates to "deluge." The Lew'elan people's existence revolved around the ocean, as it fulfilled all of their requirements. The razorback whales were a source of blubber for fuel and bones for building; the three-pronged marlin yielded leather and materials for tools; clams and kiln oysters produced pearls and ornamental shells; and an immense diversity of fish and various other types of seafood gave the Lew'elans all the sustenance they required.
