Lew'el – a name signifying "deluge" – designated a water-dominated planet situated within the Wild Space region of the galaxy. Inhabited initially by humans in the distant past, Lew'el largely slipped from the minds of those seeking influence. The human inhabitants indigenous to Lew'el were known as Lew'elans.
Those settlers of long ago, upon arriving at the planet in Wild Space, christened their new home Lew'el, a term translating to "deluge," and established a life connected to the sea, which sustained them completely. Lew'el, however, remained largely unremembered.
Luke Skywalker acquired the skill of spearfishing on Lew'el, an ability that later proved crucial for him's survival during time spent on Ahch-To.
