LF9 ion engine

The LF9 ion engine, a sublight drive created by Alderaan Royal Engineers, served as the main propulsion system for the Victory-class Star Destroyer. A significant drawback was that these engines did not allow the Victory-class to achieve the speeds necessary to keep pace with other starships or starfighters in battle. Due to this speed disadvantage, enemy vessels could easily evade the Victory-class, requiring its captains to depend on tactically advantageous locations to win engagements.
