The LV8-series guard droid, a cost-effective security model, was produced by Baktoid Industrial Systems following the establishment of the Galactic Alliance.
These LV8-series droids, though affordable, were robust security droids boasting significant defensive skills. Their purpose was to safeguard both their owners and their possessions. They featured quadanium armor plating, integrated blaster rifles in each arm, and a pair of tool attachment points. A vocabulator was included, enabling them to communicate in Basic and binary.

After the Galactic Empire took control of the assets belonging to Baktoid Combat Automata, a large number of Baktoid engineers, along with their research, escaped the Empire. Following the Empire's downfall and the creation of the Galactic Alliance, these engineers united to form a new company, Baktoid Industrial Systems. Shifting their focus away from combat droids, they instead dedicated their efforts to creating advanced droids for industrial applications. This expertise allowed Baktoid to once again become a prominent player in droid engineering.
These droids saw action after the Alliance's collapse during the revived Galactic Empire's rule near the conclusion of the Sith–Imperial War. Specifically, LV8-series guard droids were found in the maintenance tunnels of Sublevel 12 on Coruscant near Roan Fel's private quarters, guarding a starship. Emperor Roan Fel and his security detail defeated these droids while Darth Krayt and his Sith minions were in pursuit of Fel's decoy.
