Mads Mikkelsen, an actor hailing from Denmark, played the role of Galen Walton Erso in the 2016 motion picture Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He is celebrated for his performances, including portraying Tristan in the historical action film King Arthur from 2004 (acting alongside Joel Edgerton, Keira Knightley, and Ray Stevenson and engaging in a fatal duel with the character portrayed by Stellan Skarsgård), embodying the primary villain in the 2006 James Bond film Casino Royale (alongside Daniel Craig), starring in the Academy Award-nominated film The Hunt, bringing Hannibal Lecter to life in the television series Hannibal, playing the antagonist Kaecilius in the 2016 superhero movie Doctor Strange, and portraying Gellert Grindelwald in the 2022 fantasy film Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (acting opposite Star Wars colleague Jude Law).
His appearance partially served as inspiration for Admiral Jhared Montferrat in the 2014 short story "Blade Squadron." Furthermore, his older brother, Lars Mikkelsen, provides the voice for Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels and will portray the character in live-action in the Ahsoka television series.
