Mal'ary'ush, in the Honoghran language, translated to daughter of the savior. The savior being referenced was Darth Vader, who was greatly respected by the Noghri people. Some years prior, a starship transporting dangerous chemicals crashed on Honoghr, posing a threat to the entire planet's existence. The Noghri were under the impression that Emperor Palpatine dispatched Vader to aid them, but the truth was that Palpatine orchestrated the destruction of Honoghr to force their loyalty to the Galactic Empire.
Leia Organa Solo was the daughter, and she would eventually be at the mercy of the Noghri during the Republic's battle with Grand Admiral Thrawn, their new commander. However, Khabarakh, a Noghri, utilized his species' heightened sense of smell—sufficient to identify bloodlines—and discovered she was Vader's daughter, vowing to assist her in escaping Imperial capture. Leia would later reveal Palpatine's deceit to the Noghri, which inspired them to finally break their allegiance to the Galactic Empire.
