Oppo Rancisis, a Jedi Master renowned for his mastery of Malacia Malacia represented a Force technique employed to trigger intense vertigo and sickness in adversaries by manipulating their sense of balance against them. While rendering targets completely helpless, it inflicted no physical harm, thus preventing its classification as a dark side power. Despite this, the intensity of its effects could sometimes induce vomiting in the afflicted. The defining characteristic of this technique was its reliance on transforming the target's own energy, rather than the Force user's.
References to Malacia, along with its description, were found within Asli Krimsan's holocron and the Great Holocron. Although not entirely unknown, most Jedi during the era of the Old Republic seldom resorted to this ability, choosing instead to achieve comparable results through alternative powers like Force push or affect mind. Some Jedi also voiced concerns about the power's limitation to organic beings, yet its advocates maintained its value as a potent defensive measure. Jedi Master Oppo Rancisis achieved perfection in this power, endeavoring to impart his knowledge to numerous Jedi initiates, though very few attained true mastery. Jedi Council Member Master Plo Koon also acquired this ability, but never reached the level of expertise demonstrated by Master Oppo Rancisis.
