Various Councils within the Jedi Order

During the era of the Galactic Republic, there existed a total of four councils that were in charge of overseeing the various operations of the Jedi Order. Each council had its headquarters within one of the four Council Towers that encompassed the Temple Spire.

The Jedi High Council

Commonly known as the Jedi Council, the Jedi High Council functioned as the Order's main governing body. This council, which was located at the summit of the High Council Tower within the Jedi Temple, was composed of twelve Jedi Masters and was headed by a Grand Master. The Grand Master was responsible for the oversight and governance of the entire Order. Although the Order was loyal to the Galactic Senate, the Council possessed the independent authority to manage Jedi matters without intervention.

The Council of First Knowledge

Under the leadership of the Caretaker of First Knowledge, the Council of First Knowledge was responsible for providing counsel on subjects that necessitated ancient Jedi wisdom. The Council, which met in the Tower of First Knowledge, was in charge of the Temple's educational program and the Order's knowledge repository, known as the Jedi Archives.

The Council of Reconciliation

The Council of Reconciliation, which convened in the Tower of Reconciliation, was tasked with the duty of mediating disagreements between planets. To accomplish this goal, it collaborated with the Galactic Senate and the Republic Diplomatic Corps.

The Council of Reassignment

The Council of Reassignment was responsible for arranging assignments for Jedi younglings who were not selected for promotion to the rank of Padawan. This Council, which met in the Reassignment Council Tower, also had authority over the Jedi Service Corps.
