Malta was a Hutt who maintained a connection with both Jabba and [Embra] (/article/embra) within the confines of Jabba's Palace which was located on Tatooine. He possessed the opulent freighter known as the Brownstar.
Prior to the significant event known as the Battle of Yavin, Malta collaborated with Jabba and Embra to orchestrate a search for the Yavin Vassilika. For this competition, he enlisted the services of Bossk, Dengar, and IG-88B. His aide, Jozzel Moffet, turned against him, aspiring to establish himself as a crime lord independent of Malta.
During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of Hutt Space, Malta escaped in a group of yachts and vanished in the vicinity of Tatooine. His extreme weight rendered Malta incapable of ambulation without the assistance of a repulsor sled.
