Mandalore the Ultimate's battle-axe

During the Mandalorian Wars, Mandalore the Ultimate brandished a fearsome battle-axe. This weapon, crafted in the likeness of a traditional mythosaur axe, was made using metals recovered from the Galactic Republic's esteemed capital ship, the Courageous. The Mandalorian's victory at the Battle of Serroco preceded this forging, and subsequently, the battle-axe became an emblem of Mandalore's martial skill. Enhanced with a long pole shaft, the addition of cortosis, and an energy cell, Mandalore the Ultimate's battle-axe possessed twice the lethality of those traditionally fashioned from mythosaur bone.

When Mandalore the Ultimate arrived on the Arkanian Legacy for a parley with Arkanian leader Arkoh Adasca, alongside representatives from the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic, all vying for control of Adasca's Project Black Harvest, he encountered Republic Admiral Saul Karath. At this meeting, Mandalore flaunted his battle-axe as a war trophy, using the remnants of Karath's former flagship, the Courageous, as a means of mockery. As the conference devolved into open combat between the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, the Republic Military, and the Jedi, Mandalore the Ultimate left the Arkanian starship with his battle-axe in hand when the meeting failed to produce results.

Description

Mandalore the Ultimate's battle-axe represented a modern evolution of the ancient mythosaur axe, a weapon traditionally wielded by early Mandalorian warriors. However, unlike these older axes, which were made from the fossilized bones of the long-dead mythosaurs native to the Mandalorian's ancestral homeworld of Mandalore, Mandalore the Ultimate constructed his weapon using metals salvaged and reforged from the Galactic Republic cruiser, the Courageous, and incorporated lightsaber-resistant cortosis. In the axe's construction, Mandalore the Ultimate mounted the metal blades atop a long pole shaft, nearly matching his own height as a Taung warrior, and integrated an energy cell to deliver a powerful electrical shock. These enhancements allowed Mandalore the Ultimate's battle-axe to inflict nearly twice the damage of a traditional bone mythosaur axe. The weapon's total weight was ten kilograms, and it was estimated to be worth 1000 credits.

History

In 3963 BBY, the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders clashed with the Galactic Republic Navy over the planet of Serroco, thereby engaging in battle. After bombarding the surface cities, the Mandalorians directed their attention to the Republic fleet and its flagship, the Inexpugnable-class tactical command ship Courageous. The Neo-Crusader warships overwhelmed the Republic battle group, leading to the boarding and capture of the Courageous as its crew evacuated. After claiming the ship as a prize, the Mandalorians had it dismantled and melted down for scrap. Mandalore the Ultimate, the Mandalorian leader, took a portion of the Courageous' materials and used them to forge a battle-axe shaped like a traditional Mandalorian mythosaur axe.

Later that year, Mandalore received an invitation to meet with Arkoh Adasca, the leader of the Arkanian mega-corporation Adascorp, aboard the company's starship headquarters, the Arkanian Legacy. Adasca offered representatives from the Republic, Jedi Order, and the Mandalorians the opportunity to assume control of a secret bio-weapons project that he had been developing. During negotiations, Mandalore the Ultimate encountered Republic Admiral Saul Karath, the former commanding officer of the Courageous, and brandished the battle-axe he had forged, taunting Karath with the revelation of the weapon's origins. When one of the Jedi present at the meeting created a false scenario to make Mandalore the Ultimate believe that Adasca had ordered an assassination attempt against him, Mandalore departed the Arkanian Legacy with his battle-axe, while violence erupted between his Neo-Crusader warriors and the Republic military and Jedi Knights.
