The Manka-class armored transport, often referred to as an APC or sometimes an ATV, represented a specific model of armored walker. It was employed by both the armed forces of the Republic and the re-established Sith Empire during the Great Galactic War, the Cold War, and the Galactic War. As a component of the Republic's armored vehicle assets, the Manka-class armored transport saw action on numerous battlefields throughout the galaxy. Notable deployments included extensive use on Ord Mantell during the Separatist War, as well as on planets such as Balmorra, Voss, and Corellia, during the period of conflict between the two galactic superpowers. Furthermore, it was present within the city of Olaris on Taris during the Taris Resettlement Initiative.
This Manka-class armored transport was structured as a four-legged walker featuring a central body. Its design allowed for the carriage of up to 16 infantry soldiers. Clad in Durasteel armor, it facilitated the deployment of ground troops into zones too perilous for shuttles. An armored cockpit, connected by a short "neck," possessed the ability to rotate, enabling target observation through reinforced windows and scopes. The cockpit also housed the two main blaster cannons.
The walker was propelled across terrain by four legs, each fortified with supplementary armor plating. These legs terminated in "feet" equipped with stabilizing grasping claws. Twin cannons, ball-mounted on either side, provided lateral fire support. At the rear of the hull, two smaller turrets offered covering fire during troop deployment and extraction. Access to the transport compartment was achieved by deploying the entire rear hull, culminating in a telescopic ramp.
Beyond its role as a personnel carrier, the Manka-class occasionally served to move cargo and provisions through hazardous environments. One such instance occurred on Taris during the Cold War, where the walker's robust armor shielded the crew from the planet's dangerous wildlife, particularly the Rakghouls.
