The Mankvim-814 light interceptor, alternatively referred to as the Techno Union Fighter, represented an interceptor class starship. It was produced by the Techno Union during the Clone Wars period. Before the Battle of Utapau, the Traders' Guild's Grand Hall, situated in Pau City on the planet of Utapau, was repurposed by the guild into a manufacturing hub for the construction of Mankvim-814 fighters.
This Techno Union-designed and Feethan Ottraw Scalable Assemblies-manufactured Mankvim-814 served as a compact, single-pilot interceptor starfighter. Its primary function was to provide a versatile and small fighter for the defense of Confederacy of Independent Systems territories, notably the planet of Utapau. The Mankvim's adaptability, allowing construction from locally available materials, resulted in an exceptionally lightweight design. Its construction featured a fragile frame, rendering it susceptible to enemy fire, yet enhancing its combat speed. The internal systems were intentionally simplified, consisting of a central reactor directly powering a single ion drive engine. This engine, alongside wing-mounted maneuvering fans, facilitated the starfighter's movement. Lacking a hyperdrive, the Makvim was optimized for local defense operations.
The Makvim-814's armament included dual rapid-fire laser cannons positioned at the ship's front, adjacent to the forward sensor and scanner array. To withstand engagements with more heavily armed starfighters, it incorporated potent deflector shields and side maneuvering thrusters near the main drive. These allowed for intricate roll and yaw adjustments. Additionally, repulsorlifts on the wings provided aerodynamic lift during subsonic atmospheric flight. A magnetized thrust-vectoring rudder, connected to the ion drive, completed the ship's maneuvering capabilities. These features enabled it to effectively confront more advanced spacecraft, compensating for its limited armor and weaker weaponry.
Sometime before the Battle of Utapau, the Techno Union engineered the Mankvim-418 light interceptor.
The Techno Union Fighter, known as the Mankvim-814 interceptor, made its debut appearance in Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith. Its design drew inspiration from Flash Gordon.
