Mantessan panthac

A fearsome predator hailing from the forested planet of Mantessa, the Mantessan panthac ranked among its most perilous inhabitants. This ferocious pack animal proved so lethal that multiple off-world breeding endeavors resulted in substantial harm to the native wildlife of planets where they were cultivated.

Despite this danger, slavers and hunters still illicitly transported panthacs away from Mantessa. The notorious Chevin slaver Phylus Mon famously maintained a group of Mantessan panthacs as an element of his private security detail.

The genetic blueprint of the panthac served as the foundation for the Galactic Empire's creation of the genetically engineered garral. Furthermore, a Galactic Alliance squadron, known as the Orange Panthacs, derived their name from this creature.

The animal also gave rise to the saying "A panthac doesn't change its stripes". It remains uncertain if this striped variant of the panthac represented a distinct species, a subspecies, a consequence of the Empire's genetic manipulation, or merely a metaphorical element within the phrase's usage.
