In 3964 BBY, a Snivvian who called himself "Baron Hieromarn", an alleged industrialist, chose the Market Street Outdoor Exchange as the location for a sales presentation aimed at attracting investors. Hieromarn sought funding from the local population to finance the acquisition and staffing of a tanker to transport fleek eels from the Hocekureem Sea on the planet Falleen to Taris, where they would be sold to local restaurants, promising a return of three times the investment. During the Mandalorian siege of Taris in the year that followed, the Market Street district experienced significant looting. Shortly after the looters left, the Mandalorian forces took control of Market Street.
The Market Street Outdoor Exchange, while not directly shown, was initially referenced in The Taris Holofeed: Prime Edition. This in-universe news article appeared on the final page of Knights of the Old Republic 0, a comic that was published in 2006.
