The enigmatic Master of Questions, a Sith being appearing as a Human female, existed within a domain of endless, blank whiteness. During the era of the Cold War, she had been confined to this location for countless millennia, though occasionally, she received unwitting "guests" who arrived there by chance. Despite possessing the capability to release these visitors whenever she chose, the Master of Questions only granted freedom to those who could defeat her in a contest of questions. For every incorrect answer given to her questions, the Master would diminish her visitor's strength, simultaneously weakening them and bolstering the power of her realm.
In approximately 3643 BBY, the Master of Questions encountered the Jedi Consular who would eventually become known as the Barsen'thor. The Jedi, along with their companion, a Trandoshan named Qyzen Fess, were drawn into the Master's realm after activating a Sith holocron that the Jedi thought to be a Noetikon. As was her custom with those who stumbled into her domain, the Master proposed a game of questions to the Jedi, with freedom as the prize. The Master posed three questions: "How do you catch an answer?", "What is known by a wise individual?", and "Before long, this place will be overwhelmed by adversaries. What course of action will you take?". The correct responses to the first two questions were "Attract it using a question" and "The wise individual does not possess knowledge, but instead actively seeks it", respectively.
