A materials analyst was someone who scrutinized both technology and materials. Their goal was to determine the user's abilities and, if needed, to develop strategies to counter an enemy. Major Capin Harinar worked as a materials analyst for the Rebel Alliance Intelligence Service, a part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In this role, he analyzed technology taken from the Galactic Empire. This analysis was done to understand the Empire's power and to aid in creating plans to fight against them.
