To escape assassination amidst the political instability within the Tion Cluster, the Tionese prince escaped to the planet of Kaon. Using his funds, Zaym reconstructed the once [trade](/article/merchant/legends]-focused world, expanding its trade ports and supporting artistic endeavors. Zaym transformed Kaon from his palace into a tranquil and refined sanctuary for the nobility of the Tion Cluster.
The initial mention of Matteus Zaym occurred within the Codex entry for the planet Kaon, featured in the 2011 video game, Star Wars: The Old Republic, developed by BioWare. This Codex entry, along with the "Kaon Under Siege" Flashpoint, was incorporated into the game in 2012 through Game Update 1.1, titled "Rise of the Rakghouls".
