This figure was either a descendant or a clone of the Sith Lord known as Darth Maul. He existed during the era of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire, which was over a century removed from Maul's lifetime. After enlisting Darth Talon to be his apprentice, this Sith Lord aimed to re-establish the Rule of Two and eliminate Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt along with his One Sith, because they were violating the age-old Sith tradition with their Rule of One. Maul's heir and Talon then proceeded to fight various Sith Lords, including Darth Inexor, as well as Jedi like Gareth Lorca. At some point, Talon and Maul's successor successfully set up a base of operations within an asteroid.
The character of Maul's descendant was originally planned for inclusion in the unreleased video game titled Battle of the Sith Lords, a project undertaken by Red Fly Studio during 2010 and 2011.
Battle of the Sith Lords was initially conceived as a prequel narrative for Darth Maul, exploring his origins prior to his death in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The project's direction shifted following a discussion with George Lucas, who suggested featuring Darth Talon as a key character alongside Maul. Upon learning that this was problematic due to Talon existing over 170 years after Maul, Lucas proposed that the main character be Maul's descendant or a clone instead.
Based on this concept, Red Fly Studio developed the character of Maul's descendant, creating several designs that showcased him as a distinct and original character, separate from Darth Maul. However, LucasArts disapproved of this approach and insisted that the main character should have an identical appearance to Darth Maul.
The development of Battle of the Sith Lords was halted on June 24, 2011, resulting in the cancellation of the project and the abandonment of the Maul's descendant character.
